Before replacing the WB44K10005 GE Stove Bake Element, ensure the stove is unplugged from its power source. This ensures that no electrical shock occurs when working on the stove.
Step 2: Remove the Oven Door
Most stoves have removable oven doors to easily access the interior for repairs or maintenance. Locate the screws or hinges used to keep the door in place and remove them. The door should lift up and away from the frame for most stoves. Place the door out of the way for the duration of the repair.
Step 3: Remove the Old Element
The old element should be easy to locate – it will be the component at the back of the oven cavity that is connected to the wiring. Disconnect the wires running to the element and remove them from the back of the oven cavity.
Step 4: Install the New Element
The new element should be pre-assembled, and instructions on installing it in the oven. Connect the wires to the new element and secure the element in place with the necessary hardware.
Step 5: Test the Element
Once the new element is secure, plug the stove back into its power source and test it to ensure it works properly. Turn the oven on to ‘bake’ and make sure the element is heating correctly.
Step 6: Reattach the Oven Door
Once you have confirmed that the new element is working correctly, reattach the oven door to its frame and secure it with the screws or hinges. Once the door is secure, your repair is complete!
