The circuit breaker that powers the oven should be shut off or unplugged before you start any repair.
Step 2: Remove the back panel. Most GE ovens have a back panel that covers the oven’s components and must be removed before accessing the bake element.
Step 3: Unplug the wires. Make sure to note which wires go to which connections before unplugging them.
Step 4: Remove the mounting screws. Your GE oven will have several screws that hold the bake element in place.
Step 5: Replace the bake element. Carefully lift out the old bake element and replace it with the new one.
Step 6: Reconnect the wires. Be sure to reconnect the wiring to the new bake element in the same order you removed them.
Step 7: Secure the bake element. Use the same screws you used to remove the old element to secure the new one in place.
Step 8: Re-install the back panel. Put the panel in place, making sure all the screws are securely in place.
Step 9: Turn on the power. Once the panel has been re-installed, you can turn the power back on to the oven.
