To replace the MP26YA Chromalox 8″ Burner Element, you’ll need a new element, pliers, and an adjustable wrench.
Step #2: Shut off Power
Shut off power to your stove or oven before you begin working. For safety purposes, unplug it from the wall outlet or turn off the circuit breaker.
Step #3: Access the Element
You’ll need to access the element in order to remove and replace it. Be sure to remove any pieces of debris around the area before you begin.
Step #4: Remove the Element
Using the pliers, loosen the screws that secure the terminal block to the element, then use the adjustable wrench to unscrew the element from the mounting bracket. You may need to gently tap the element with the wrench if it’s stuck.
Step #5: Install the New Element
Screw the new element into the mounting bracket using the adjustable wrench. Tighten the screws in the terminal block securely to ensure a secure connection.
Step #6: Test the Element
Before turning the power back on, check the connection between the element and the terminal block to make sure it is secure. When you’re satisfied, plug the appliance back in or turn the circuit breaker back on and test the burner to make sure it is working properly.
Step #7: Dispose of The Old Element
Be sure to safely dispose of the old element. It can contain hazardous materials that may be harmful if not disposed of properly. Check with your local municipality for the best way to properly dispose of the element.
