Turn off the power to your Frigidaire range to ensure your safety. Unplug the appliance from the wall or switch off the breaker in your fuse box.

Step 2: Remove the Range Top
Lift up the range top and prop it open with a wooden support. To do this, pry up the front trim and slide it towards the rear. Then remove the two screws underneath and lift off the range top.

Step 3: Locate the Element Switch
Located beneath the range top are the element switches for your oven. They are typically black colored switches with screw caps at the ends.

Step 4: Disconnect the Wires
Using a screwdriver, remove the screws from the caps. Carefully disconnect the wires from the old element switch by pulling them off the posts. Be sure to remember the wiring pattern in case you need to reconnect the wires to the new switch.

Step 5: Install the New Switch
After disconnecting the wires, pull the old switch out of the range top. Now take your new 316436000 Frigidaire range surface element switch and insert it into the Range Top, making sure it is fully seated.

Step 6: Reconnect the Wiring
Re-attach the wires to the posts on the new switch, being sure to attach the same wires to the same posts. Secure the wires with the screw caps, and then replace any removed screws.

Before putting everything back together, test the new switch by turning on the power and setting the oven to bake. If the switch works, turn off the power and put the range top back into place. Secure it with the screws that were removed before.
