Step 2: Remove the cabinet by removing the screws from the back of the unit.

Step 3: Find the control timer located at the back side of the top panel.

Step 4: Disconnect all of the wiring harnesses connected to the control timer.

Step 5: Remove the control timer from the top panel by unscrewing the screws.

Step 6: Inspect the plastic shaft for wear or damage. If there is damage, replace it with a new one.

Step 7: Reverse the steps listed above to install the new control timer with plastic shaft. Make sure all of the connections are tight and secure before closing the cabinet.

Step 8: Plug in your dryer and turn on the power source. Your GE dryer with the new WE04X20416 control timer with plastic shaft should now be working correctly.
