Door switch works with some GE, and Hotpoint models of clothes dryers. Step 1: Unplug the Dryer
Before starting work on your dryer, make sure to unplug it from any power sources.
Step 2: Remove the Front Panel
To access the door switch, you will need to remove the dryer’s front panel. Turn the two screws located at the bottom corners of the panel counter-clockwise until they come out, then slide the panel up and off the dryer.
Step 3: Disconnect and Remove the Door Switch
Look for the wires connected to the door switch and disconnect them from the terminals. Then, use a putty knife or screwdriver to remove the switch from the dryer door.
Step 4: Install the New Switch
Install the new switch by attaching the wires to their respective terminals and securing the switch with screws. Make sure the switch is properly in place before you continue with the next step.
Step 5: Test the Dryer
Turn on the dryer to test if the new switch is working. If it’s not, you may want to double-check that all the connections and screws are properly secure.
Step 6: Replace the Front Panel
Finally, put the front panel back on the dryer and secure it with the two screws. Make sure the panel is firmly in place before plugging the dryer back in.
