Step 1: Unplug the Power Cord – Before beginning any maintenance or repair to your Speed Queen Washer Flex Vane Agitator, it is important to unplug the power cord to ensure that you do not shock yourself.

Step 2: Remove the Top of the Washer – Use a screwdriver to remove the screws on the back of the top of the washer. Set aside the screws and lift the lid off the machine.

Step 3: Disconnect the Water Hoses – Start by disconnecting the cold water inlet hose from the fill valve of the washer. Next, disconnect the hot water hose. Then, disconnect the drain hose. Put the hoses aside for now.

Step 4: Remove the Old Agitator – Begin by unscrewing the screw in the center of the agitator with a Phillips head screwdriver. Once the screw is removed, grab the agitator and pull it straight up. If necessary, use a pair of pliers to gently wiggle the agitator out of the washer.

Step 5: Install the New Agitator – Lower the new agitator into the washer. Make sure that it is properly aligned and secure.sNow, insert the screw in the center of the agitator and tighten with the screwdriver.

Step 6: Reattach the Water Hoses – Reconnect the cold water inlet hose to the fill valve of the washer. Then, reconnect the hot water hose. Lastly, reconnect the drain hose.

Step 7: Replace the Top of the Washer – Place the lid back on the machine and secure it with the screws you removed earlier.

Step 8: Test the Washer – Plug the washer back in and run a cycle to make sure that the new agitator is working correctly.
