Drive belt and idler kit for some Speed Queen washing machine / dryers. Step 1: Before getting started, make sure you have the necessary tools to replace the drive belt and idler lever kit. You will need a flat-head screwdriver, a Phillips-head screwdriver, a hammer, a wrench, and an adjustable wrench.
Step 2: Unplug the 959P3 Speed Queen Washer from the power source before beginning your repair.
Step 3: Remove the top panel of the washer by unscrewing the screws located in the back side.
Step 4: Disconnect the wires behind the control panel and then remove the control panel.
Step 5: Locate the drive belt and idler lever kit and loosen the tensioning nut using an adjustable wrench.
Step 6: Gently pull the drive belt out from the pulley system and disconnect the wiring harness.
Step 7: Carefully remove the idler lever kit, then disconnect the bearing assembly.
Step 8: Install the new drive belt and idler lever, making sure the tension is correct. Tighten the tensioning nut.
Step 9: Reattach the wiring harness and reconnect the bearing assembly.
Step 10: Reinstall the control panel, then replace the top panel of the washer.
Step 11: Plug the 959P3 Speed Queen Washer back into the power source and turn it on to test for proper operation.
Congratulations! You have now successfully replaced the drive belt and idler lever kit in your 959P3 Speed Queen Washer.
