1. Gather the necessary tools: Phillips screwdriver, new W10120840A Whirlpool Charcoal Filter and a small bowl or container for the old filter.

2. Turn the power off to the refrigerator by unplugging it.

3. Remove the bottom grille cover and wipe down the area beneath the cover with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or buildup.

4. Locate the filter in the lower right corner of the refrigerator interior.

5. Unscrew the old filter using the Phillips screwdriver and remove it from the refrigerator.

6. Place the old filter in the bowl or container so it doesn’t get lost.

7. Place the new W10120840A Whirlpool Charcoal Filter in the same spot as the old one and use the Phillips screwdriver to secure it in place.

8. Replace the bottom grille cover, plug the refrigerator back in and turn the power back on.

9. Run a full cycle of water from the refrigerator dispenser to clear out the old filter, ensuring that you dispose any extra water appropriately.
