• Replacement 4389144 Whirlpool Refrigerator EVAPORATOR FAN MOTOR
Step One: Unplug the Refrigerator
Before you begin any repairs, disconnect the appliance from its power supply. This step helps ensure your safety throughout the repair process.
Step Two: Access the Fan Motor
Remove any food stored in the freezer. Carefully push the basket out of the way, then remove the shelves. Remove the back panel in the freezer compartment by unscrewing the screws that secure it.
Step Three: Remove the Fan Motor
The fan motor is located at the bottom of the freezer compartment. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew and remove the shroud around the fan motor. Rotate the fan blade counterclockwise until it detaches and then remove it. Unscrew the two screws that secure the fan motor cover, then carefully lift the cover off. Disconnect the wiring harness from the fan motor, then using an 8mm socket wrench, loosen and remove the two screws that secure the fan motor.
Step Four: Install the New Motor
Now it’s time to install the new fan motor. Connect the wiring harness to the new fan motor, then secure it with the two mounting screws you removed earlier. Do not overtighten the screws, as this could cause damage to the fan motor. Reattach the fan blade and shroud, making sure to securely tighten them.
Step Five: Reassemble the Freezer
Reattach the fan motor cover, then reattach the back panel and shelves to the freezer compartment. Plug the refrigerator back in, and you’re done!
Congratulations! You’ve just replaced the 4389144 Whirlpool Refrigerator EVAPORATOR FAN MOTOR. Now your refrigerator will run more efficiently and quietly.
