Step #2: Turn off power to the appliance. Before starting any repair work on an appliance, turn off the power. On most appliances this can be done by flipping the switch on the wall.
Step #3: Open the appliance. Depending on the model of your appliance, you may need to remove the screws from the top or side panels and lift them away. Be sure to place the screws in a safe place so that you don’t lose them.
Step #4: Locate the terminal block. The terminal block is typically located near the back of the appliance and is where the wiring connects to the appliance. It should be clearly visible and labeled.
Step #5: Disconnect the wires. Once you have located the terminal block, use the needle nose pliers to carefully disconnect the wires. If the terminals are stuck, you may need to use the flat-head screwdriver to help loosen them.
Step #6: Remove the old screw & nut kit. Once the wires are disconnected, use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws and nut kit from the terminal block.
Step #7: Install the new screw & nut kit. Once all the old parts have been removed, install the new 279393 Whirlpool Terminal Block Screw and Nut Kit into the terminal block. Make sure that each piece is securely fastened in place.
Step #8: Reconnect the wires. Finally, use the needle nose pliers to reconnect the wires to the terminal block.
Step #9: Test the appliance. Once everything has been installed and reconnected, turn the power back on and test the appliance to make sure everything is functioning properly.
Step #10: Replace the side/top panels. Once you are sure that the appliance is working properly, replace the side or top panels and secure them with the screws that were removed in Step 3.
