1. Unplug your Whirlpool washing machine from the power source. Move the appliance away from the wall and shut off the water supply.

2. Remove the fabric softener or bleach cup assembly and agitator cap using a flat-head screwdriver as needed.

3. Using a socket wrench, loosen the clamps that are securing the agitator to the drive shaft and detach it from the top of the washer.

4. Grab the 4PK Whirlpool washer agitator dog kit and make sure all the pieces are included.

5. Inspect the spline located in the middle of the agitator for signs of wear or damage. If it is damaged, replace the spline before reinstalling the new agitator dog.

6. Slide the new agitator onto the drive shaft and secure it with the clamps. Make sure the clamp is tightened securely before moving on to the next step.

7. Reinsert the agitator cap and fabric softener/bleach cup assembly if necessary.

8. Turn on the water supply, plug the washing machine back into the power source, and push the appliance back into place.
